Rackley WAR took the top two spots in Saturday’s CARS Tour West Super Late Model event at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway, with Dawson Sutton leading Harvick to the checkered flag.

Harvick took the lead on lap 23, and maintained the top spot until a caution on lap 92. On the ensuing restart, Dawson Sutton pulled in front in the other Rackley WAR entry and led the rest of the way for the victory.

For Sutton, who is preparing for his first full-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season, a Super Late Model win against a former NASCAR Champion and some of the West’s top Late Model drivers was a great start to 2025.

“That was a great race,” said Sutton after the win. “I’ve got to thank the whole team for giving me an opportunity to come here. This is such an amazing facility and it was a good race there the whole time.

“I was expecting that, having Kevin Harvick as a teammate. He’s such a good person and a great mentor as well. I’m super thankful, and hopefully I can enjoy this moment with the team.

“This is a great feeling. This Is a great opportunity overall. I’m just super thankful, and we’re going to celebrate this one with the team.”

Harvick finished second, closing the gap on Sutton in the final laps but finishing a half-second behind the young gun. Harvick didn’t take much credit for teaching his teammate how to get around the half-mile, but thanked everyone who supported the special night of racing.

“I haven’t taught him much,” said Harvick. “He’s pretty on it. I just want to say thank you to everyone for coming out. These cars are really fun to drive.”

“I’ve got to thank HendrickCars.com and Rick Hendrick for coming on board. Curtis Sutton and everybody from the Rackley WAR team, Willie Allen, Hunt Brothers Pizza, everybody on this car is such a big part of it.”

Derek Thorn finished third, followed by Jace Hansen and Vito Cancilla.

Earlier in the evening, Trevor Huddleston won in the ARCA Menards Series West event at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway, holding off a last-lap challenge from Kyle Keller for the victory.
