Joey Logano took the pole position for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Mobil 1 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway with an incredible lap in Saturday afternoon’s qualifying session. Logano, the driver of the No. 22 Team Penske Ford, cranked out a lap time of 29.159 seconds (130.622 mph), which allowed him to score the pole by a margin of 0.170 seconds.
Ryan Blaney, Logano’s Team Penske teammate, was able to make it an all-Penske front row as he clocked in with the second-fastest time.
While Josh Berry drives the No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford, that team has a technical alliance with Team Penske, and Berry was able to secure the third starting spot for the Mobil 1 301. Tyler Reddick and William Byron rounded out the top-10 qualifiers for the race.
In all, six NASCAR Cup Series Playoff drivers ranked inside the top-10 of the results in qualifying, and 14 of the 16 drivers ranked inside the top-20.
The two Playoff contenders, who will start outside of the top-20 in Sunday’s race include Austin Cindric, who will start 22nd, and Chase Elliott, who will roll from the 27th position on the starting grid.
