Sam Mayer showed his displeasure to Dexter Bean, following an incident in Xfinity Series qualifying, where the No. 91 driving the wrong way sent Mayer into the barrier.

Coming into this weekend’s inaugural Chicago Street Race, it was clear that the nuances of street course racing would likely play a major role in who was successful. But, in racing, it’s not just yourself you have to worry about, it’s the people around you, also.

In the closing seconds of NASCAR Xfinity Series qualifying from the Chicago Street Course, an incident between Sam Mayer and Dexter Bean, has the driver of the No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro pretty miffed.

Bean, attempting to make his first start since Road America last Summer, spun his No. 91 Chevrolet Camaro while trying to lock himself into the field for Saturday’s The Loop 121. When trying to get turned around, that’s when the DGM Racing driver had some trouble.

Sam Mayer, also making a lap in an attempt to get into the final round of qualifying, quickly approached the No. 91, while Bean was driving the wrong way on course, which caused the JR Motorsports driver to crash into the tire barriers.

After the incident happened, Mayer showed his displeasure with Bean, coming up directly behind the Badger Environmental Chevrolet Camaro and potentially making slight contact with the rear bumper.

Luckily, the incident went no further than that, as Mayer drove around Bean on his way back to pit road, to fix the damage on his Huck’s Market entry.

Mayer would qualify 14th for Saturday’s The Loop 121, while Dexter Bean would fail to qualify for the inaugural NASCAR Xfinity Series event at the Chicago Street Course.
