John Hunter Nemechek made a mistake on lap 55, which ended his hopes — and several other’s hopes — of winning Saturday’s Truck race at Gateway.

John Hunter Nemechek made an error on lap 55 of Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Toyota 200 at WWT Raceway at Gateway, which will end his hopes of winning the race.

Nemechek, who was running behind Stewart Friesen and Corey Heim, who were battling hard for third, skipped onto the curbing in turn 4. This caused Nemechek to kick sideways, sending him into Friesen.

As a result, Nemechek would spin in front of the field and several of others would pile into the crash.

Here is video of the incident, as well as a replay from FS1’s broadcast:

In all, eight trucks were involved in the lap 55 crash. The drivers involved were: Nemechek, Friesen, Jesse Little, Blaine Perkins, Zane Smith, Ty Majeski, Matt Crafton and Christian Eckes.

Majeski, like Nemechek, suffered massive damage in the crash.
