Anthony Alfredo will have to go to a backup car for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Sonoma after his throttle hung into the first corner.

Anthony Alfredo and BJ McLeod Motorsports will have to pull out a backup car for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Sonoma Raceway, after a hung throttle sent his No. 78 Chevrolet Camaro into the wall.

Alfredo says that by the time he realized the throttle was hung on his BJ McLeod Motorsports entry, it was too late to hit the kill switch, which allowed his Chevrolet Camaro to clobber the wall, which doesn’t have a SAFER barrier.

The incident happened after the halfway point of Friday’s practice session, where Alfredo was ranked just inside the top-25 at the time of the major accident, which tore the entire right-side off his No. 78.
