After a near-miss at Texas Motor Speedway last season, Nick Sanchez is looking for redemption at the 1.5-mile intermediate facility, and it starts by scoring the pole for Friday’s SpeedyCash.com 250.

Putting down a lap time of 29.219 seconds (184.811mph), the REV Racing driver will lead the field to green for the sixth time in his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series career, and for the first time this season

Sanchez had a substantial advantage over second-place qualifier Christian Eckes, who won the last NASCAR Truck Series event at Martinsville Speedway. Stewart Friesen will start third, with two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch in fourth and Grant Enfinger in fifth place.

Daniel Dye, Layne Riggs, Bayley Currey, Taylor Gray, and Rajah Caruth completed the top-10 in Friday’s time trials session, which despite an eventful practice managed to go without incident.

Other notables starting outside the top-10 include Ty Majeski (11th), Zane Smith (12th), Corey Heim (14th), and Ben Rhodes (19th). Tyler Ankrum and Tanner Gray will start at the rear of the pack, after incidents in practice.

Both Ankrum and Gray found trouble in the same spot on the racetrack Friday, at the exit of turn two, a well-known trouble spot on the intermediate track. Both the No. 15 and No. 18 lost control exiting the second corner and slammed into the outside wall, causing significant damage.

TRICON Garage and McAnally-HIlgemann Racing will have to unload backup trucks prior to the start of Friday’s 250-mile contest in Texas tonight.

They, along with the other 32 trucks in the field for Friday’s event, will look to take on a track that has historically been difficult fo those competing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Sereis
