Jeb Burton Scores First Xfinity Series Win for Jordan Anderson Racing in Chaotic Race at Talladega

Throughout the entire Ag-Pro 300 at Talladega Superspeedway, Jeb Burton was at the front of the pack, making bold and aggressive moves to maintain his track position and stay in contention for victory.

That’s exactly what he did, too, keeping himself at the front of the field throughout all of the carnage and chaos, to capture his second victory in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Talladega Superspeedway, and the first win for Jordan Anderson Racing.

As it does on superspeedways, some of it came down to luck, as the Halifax, Virginia-native had the caution fall just at the perfect time during the first of two NASCAR Overtime restarts, to where the No. 27 was still scored as the leader at the previous scoring loop.

Retaining the lead on the race’s final restart, Burton then had to fend off a trio of quick cars behind him, Sheldon Creed, Parker Kligerman, and Cole Custer, something he was able to do in large part because of the lack of entries in the lead draft.

It had been a long and difficult road for Burton, who had spent his last 46 starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series finishing outside the top-10, after joining Our Motorsports for a dismal campaign in 2022.

However, things have appeared to correct themselves in joining Jordan Anderson Racing, which was clear by the atmosphere on the frontstretch after the No. 27 pulled down into the grass after the victory, despite busting his transmission.

At the start-finish line, Burton held a lead of 0.113 seconds over Sheldon Creed, who recorded another runner-up finish for Richard Childress Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Parker Kligerman scored a career-best third-place result for Big Machine Racing, signaling a top-three sweep at the top of the scoring pylon for Chevrolet. Cole Custer scored a fourth-place finish with a slightly wounded car, while Brennan Poole finished fifth for JD Motorsports.

With an accident on the final lap of the race, the running order in the back half of the top-10 got crazy, with Caesar Bacarella scoring a career-best sixth-place result in the No. 43 for Alpha Prime Racing.

After being involved in two accidents, and almost going upside down in one, Parker Retzlaff rebounded to finish in seventh place, marking the first time that both entries from Jordan Anderson Racing have finished inside the top-10.

Gray Gaulding posted a much-needed eighth-place run for SS Green Light Racing, while Emerling-Gase Motorsports and DGM Racing also scored top-10 finishes with Joey Gase and Josh Williams.

The event, which flew off the rails from the conclusion of the second stage onward, featured two pretty scary accidents throughout, both of which saw cars go upside down violently.

First, at the end of stage two, was Blaine Perkins, who got tipped into the pack and clobbered by Jade Buford, sending the No. 02 into the air and barrel rolling at least six times down the backstretch. Perkins was transferred to a local hospital out of an abundance of caution.

The second accident, and the biggest of the afternoon in terms of cars involved, saw Daniel Hemric make a late block for the lead on Sheldon Creed, which sent the No. 11 back into the pack, where he was pushed upside down.

After that accident, the majority of the field was disheveled, leaving so few cars left in the event, leaving lots of room for some amazing underdog stories to come out of the event.

Leaving Talladega, the NASCAR Xfinity Series jumps back into action at Dover Motor Speedway, the fourth race of the Dash 4 Cash program, which will see Cole Custer, Sheldon Creed, Jeb Burton, and Parker Kligerman face off for $100k.
