The No. 7 Spire Motorsports NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team will return to action this week in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 150 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and they’ll have a new face behind the wheel in Dylan Lupton.

For Lupton, 28, this will be his first start in the NASCAR National Series ranks in 2022 and he’ll carry a paint scheme with sponsorship from Lupton Excavation for the race. The California-native is just super appreciative for the opportunity to drive for a team that has had success in their first year of NCWTS competition.

“I am very thankful for this opportunity to drive for Spire Motorsports in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series this weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course,” said Lupton in a team release. “Every time they have hit the track at a Truck Series race in 2022, Spire Motorsports has been a front-runner.

“I’d like to continue that pace this weekend. I have experience at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and with my road course background, plus with the leadership of Bono (Manion, crew chief), I think we can surprise a lot of people on Saturday afternoon.”

In 14-career NCWTS starts, Lupton has scored four top-10 finishes, including a career-best finish of fifth, which came at Kentucky Speedway back in 2019 while driving for DGR-Crosley.

Spire Motorsports feel they may have found a diamond in the rough in Lupton.

“Dylan Lupton has shown a lot of promise over his career so we’re eager to see what he can do this weekend at Mid-Ohio,” Spire Motorsports co-owner T.J. Puchyr explained. “He’s a good, hard-nosed road racer and having the leadership and wealth of knowledge between Mike (Greci) and Bono (Manion) will be important for Dylan. He’s done well at Mid-Ohio in the past, so we think we’ve got a strong combination heading into Saturday.”

Overall, Lupton has competed in a total of 57 races between the NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series and Camping World Truck Series through the course of his career.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts 150 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will take place on Saturday, July 9th at 1:30 PM ET. The race will be televised by FS1.
