BJ McLeod Motorsports announced on Wednesday that the NASCAR Xfinity Series team has mutually agreed to part ways with Josh Williams, who joined the organization in the offseason after a long stint with DGM Racing.

According to the statement from BJMM, the parting of ways comes immediately.

Here is the complete statement from BJ McLeod Motorsports:

“B.J. McLeod Motorsports and Josh Williams have mutually agreed to part ways for the remainder of the 2022 Xfinity Series season. We would like to thank Josh for all he has done this year and wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”

BJMM did not tip their hand as to who will take over their car for the departing Williams.

Williams released a very similar statement, where he also thanked B.J. McLeod and Jessica McLeod for the opportunity.

Williams, 29, has made 17 starts through the opening 21 races of the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, DNQ’ing four times. Williams, who had amassed eight top-10 finishes — including six in 2020 alone — over the course of his NASCAR Xfinity Series career, has struggled to find his footing with BJMM this season.

The Florida-native sits 28th in the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship standings and has recorded his worst average finish in NXS competition since the 2018 season.

This season, despite the frustration on the Xfinity Series side of things, Williams had made his first-two NASCAR Cup Series starts for Live Fast Motorsports, the Cup Series team, which is co-owned by McLeod. Williams scored a pair of 25th-place finishes in those two NCS starts.
