Alex Bowman will not compete in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at North Wilkesboro Speedway on May 20th, as originally scheduled, Spire Motorsports confirmed to TobyChristie.com on Monday.

Bowman, 30, has been absent from the NASCAR Cup Series grid for the last two weekends, after suffering a compression fracture to his vertebra in a winged sprint car racing accident on April 25, as part of the High Limit Racing event at 34 Raceway.

The Tucson, Arizona-native was scheduled to pilot the No. 7 Chevrolet Silverado in the inaugural NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at North Wilkesboro Speedway, with sponsorship coming from HendrickCars.com.

According to a representative from Spire Motorsports, the organization will continue to move forward with its plans to compete in the historic event, despite a semi-last-minute change of plans on who will be driving the entry.

Last season, Spire Motorsports announced the formation of a part-time program in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, which attempted 11 events between drivers William Byron, Chase Elliott, Dylan Lupton, Alex Bowman, Rajah Caruth, and Austin Hill.

In the team’s third career start, William Byron brought the No. 7 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Silverado to victory lane at Martinsville Speedway, the first of three top-10 finishes for the program in 2022.

So far this season, the program has been shared between Corey LaJoie, Jonathan Davenport, and Alex Bowman, who has competed at Daytona, Bristol Dirt, and COTA, and will run next weekend’s event at Darlington.

As of the time of publishing, Spire Motorsports explains that they have nothing to announce at the current moment in regards to who will pilot the entry at North Wilkesboro Speedway later this month.
