Kyle Weatherman, as previously announced, will pilot the DriveSmart-sponsored No. 91 Chevrolet Camaro for DGM Racing in the upcoming NASCAR Xfinity Series Andy’s Frozen Custard 300 at Texas Motor Speedway on September 23rd.
Back in August, TobyChristie.com detailed a paint scheme design contest for the DriveSmart No. 91 car in an interview with DriveSmart President of Sales, Chris Doyle. A winner has officially been selected for the contest.
Weatherman and a panel of influencers selected the finalists out of more than 40 paint scheme submissions. Landon Milz designed the paint scheme, which was chosen by 33% of the public vote.
Not only will Milz see his paint scheme design come to life on the race track, but he’ll be there in person to see it. As part of the contest, Milz received a paid-for trip to Texas Motor Speedway including flight, hotel, and VIP Garage Passes for the NASCAR Xfinity Series race.
Weatherman says engaging with fans through the DriveSmart contest has been a very rewarding experience for him, personally.
“Engaging with the fans who keep our sport alive is very special and important to me, and to join forces with an organization who shares that value is an opportunity that I am extremely thankful for,” Weatherman said in a DGM Racing team press release. “I know Mario [Gosselin] leads a dedicated group of hard-working individuals at DGM, and I am beyond pumped for a solid run in the DriveSmart Warranty Chevrolet at Texas.”
DriveSmart Warranty, which was an active presence in NASCAR as a primary sponsor before the COVID-19 pandemic says they are glad to be back and excited to be partnered with Weatherman and DGM Racing for the race at Texas.
“Our family at DriveSmart is very excited to have the opportunity to work with Kyle Weatherman and the DGM Racing team,” says Dan Rodd, owner of DriveSmart. “When we decided to get back into NASCAR, choosing Kyle Weatherman was a no-brainer for us. His performance and ability to get it done on the track is exactly what DriveSmart was looking for.”
Weatherman, 26, is a journeyman racer, who has scratched and clawed up the racing ladder with pure determination. The Missouri native has made 19 starts during the NASCAR Xfinity Series season and is scheduled to run this week’s event at Bristol Motor Speedway.
In addition to the No. 91 DGM Racing team, Weatherman has run a race for six different car numbers this season with five separate organizations. Weatherman’s best finish of the season was a 13th-place effort at Watkins Glen International with the No. 4 JD Motorsports team last month.
