Kyle Weatherman will not participate in Friday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series on-track activity from Darlington Raceway, due to a family emergency, according to a social media post from DGM Racing.

Weatherman, the full-time driver of the No. 91 Drive Smart Warranty Chevrolet Camaro for DGM Racing, is expected to return to the racetrack for Saturday’s Crown Royal Purple Bag Project 200.

DGM Racing has tapped Kaden Honeycutt, a part-timer in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, to drive the entry in both practice and qualifying, which will happen on Friday afternoon.

Honeycutt is not scheduled to compete in any of NASCAR’s National Series this weekend at Darlington, but will now travel to the Darlington, South Carolina-based racetrack to work with DGM Racing and crew chief Mario Gosselin.

A native of Willow Park, Texas, Honeycutt isn’t a stranger to operations at DGM Racing, having competed in the organization’s second entry, the No. 92, just a couple of weeks ago at Dover Motor Speedway, finishing 23rd.

The 20-year-old racer is riding a strong wave of momentum, having just earned a career-best fourth-place run in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Kansas Speedway, while driving the No. 45 Chevrolet Silverado for Niece Motorsports.
