Kris Wright is out of Saturday’s United Rentals 300 at Daytona International Speedway, after a strange accident at the entrance to pit road.
During a cycle of green-flag pit stops during the final stage, Wright, who was running behind the lead draft, attempted to get on pit road with his No. 5 FNB Corporation Chevrolet.
Wright then plowed into a pack of racecars coming to pit road, jacking the rear tires of Josh Bilicki’s No. 91 DGM Racing Chevrolet off the ground in an incredible fashion.
Ryan Truex, driving the No. 24 Toyota GR Supra for Sam Hunt Racing, also collected some damage to the right rear of his vehicle, hindering his evening.
After the accident unfolded, which ended the night for the Our Motorsports Chevrolet, Wright said on the radio that he lost the brakes.
The Pennsylvania-native will finish outside the top-30 in his first start in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with Our Motorsports, after spending last season in the ARCA Menards Series with Venturini Motorsports.
In an interview with The CW, Wright later says there was a miscommunication coming to pit road, which caused him to carry way too much speed.
