Austin Hill Ty Gibbs crash Nashville video 2023 Stage 2 restart
Ty Gibbs and Carson Hocevar are done for the day after contact from Austin Hill at the start of Stage 2 sent Gibbs spinning in front of the entire field.

It was a really sloppy NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Nashville Superspeedway through Stage 1, and Stage 2 got started off on the same foot. On the restart of the race at the beginning of Stage 2, Austin Hill washed up the track while battling Ty Gibbs for the race lead.

Hill, who inherited the lead by staying out on old tires, would collide with the left rear of Gibbs’ No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, which would send Gibbs — the leader of the race — spinning in front of the entire field.

Gibbs would back into AJ Allmendinger, and Carson Hocevar would endure a lot of damage as well.

Here is a video of the latest crash near the front of the field:

The damage sustained for Gibbs and Hocevar was severe enough for the crash to end both drivers’ days.

The collision between Hill and Gibbs was the second incident between the two drivers on the day. On Lap 9, Gibbs and Hill made contact while battling three-wide with Hocevar for a top-five position.

That incident led to Hill spinning and sustaining damage to his No. 21 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet.

Here was the previous incident between the two drivers:
