Austin Hill is out of Friday’s Food City 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway, after getting turned around by Richard Childress Racing teammate Sheldon Creed in the final stage of the event.

It’s not going to be a fun meeting at Richard Childress Racing on Monday.

Regular-season champion Austin Hill is out of Friday’s Food City 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway, the first race of the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs, after a misjudgment by teammate Sheldon Creed.

The teammates were running on the lead lap in the final stage of the event, when the driver of the No. 2 Chevrolet Camaro clipped the left rear of Hill, turning him hard into the inside wall, and critically damaging the No. 21.

Hill, who came into Bristol way up on the playoff cutline, will still leave Bristol in a good position points-wise. However, a lot of that buffer that the Richard Childress Racing driver had built up through the regular-season has evaporated headed to Texas and Charlotte’s ROVAL.

Sheldon Creed was able to continue on the lead-lap, and will look to put himself in a better points position to advance through the first round.
