Just two hours after announcing his return to the NASCAR Cup Series, Cole Custer has won the pole for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Pennzoil 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Custer, driving the No. 00 Haas Automation Ford Mustang, posted a time of 53.705 seconds (167.682mph) to win the pole over Stewart-Haas Racing teammate Riley Herbst. Aric Almirola, Sam Mayer, and Anthony Alfredo completed the top five in the Saturday time trial session.
Brandon Jones, Carson Kvapil, AJ Allmendinger, Justin Allgaier, and Josh Berry completed the top-10.
