Apparently, rumors have been swirling around the NASCAR Xfinity Series garage that the No. 86 Brandonbilt Motorsports team is close to shutting down. The team, which is owned by the Brown family, isn’t going anywhere according to rookie of the year candidate Brandon Brown.

Where the rumors surfaced from is not clear at the moment, but it could have been a ploy by another competitor to snag the sponsorship that the No. 86 team has been able to sign on so far in 2019. This has been a common strategy by certain teams inside the sport over the last few years as sponsorship dollars have become increasingly more scarce.

Brown, an underdog story, sits 14th in the NASCAR Xfinity Series driver point standings. He has one top-10 finish, seven top-15’s and an average finish of 17.7 through 17 starts this season.
