Ryan Vargas will be back behind the wheel of the No. 15 JD Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro during the NASCAR Xfinity Series Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200 at Darlington Raceway in a couple of weeks. Vargas made the announcement on Twitter on Monday. The 19-year old will look to continue impressing folks in his part-time role at JDM.

For Vargas, this chance to run at one of NASCAR’s most iconic tracks is an incredible opportunity.

“It means a lot, growing up seeing the history behind the track and everything that goes into its traditional Throwback Weekend, I’m so excited to tackle this track,” Vargas said to TobyChristie.com. “It’ll be tough but it will be a very valuable learning experience and hopefully pay off in the long run.”

A sponsor has not been announced for the entry at this time, but a separate announcement will be made in the near future.

When we last saw Vargas, he was receiving medical attention following the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Kansas Speedway after the Koolbox in his helmet malfunctioned. Despite high temperatures, Vargas gutted it out for the duration of that event to score a 25th-place finish.

The California-native has started one other race in 2020. In that race, which was at Pocono Raceway, Vargas recorded a career-best finish of 13th.

In all, Vargas has made five-previous NXS starts through his young NASCAR career.

Vargas has become a social media sensation this season. He has a video series, where he reviews chicken nuggets while interviewing fellow race car drivers and personalities in the sport, and he has even hosted several highly successful iRacing events, as well.
