Kyle Weatherman, who pilots the No. 91 Chevrolet Camaro for DGM Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, was issued a $25,000 fine by NASCAR on Tuesday evening. According to the NASCAR penalty report, Weatherman violated Sections 4.4.B & D of the NASCAR Member Code of Conduct.
According to NASCAR, Weatherman made contact with another vehicle on pit road following Saturday’s Pacific Office Automation 147 at Portland International Raceway.
While the penalty report didn’t specify which car Weatherman had contact with on pit road to force the penalty, and the FS1 race broadcast didn’t show the incident on air, reports from sources that were present say the contact was with Ryan Sieg’s No. 39 RSS Racing machine.
Weatherman finished the race in the 25th position.
The Missouri native, who has a best finish of eighth this season, sits 22nd in the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship standings after 13 races, and has been racing with a heavy heart following the passing of his Mother-in-law Barbara Ann Brooks on May 22.
Barbara Ann had been battling cancer. In a video statement, which Weatherman posted to social media on Tuesday afternoon, he addressed the incident and apologized for his actions.
Weatherman states, “I’ve gotta be better, I’ve gotta be better.”

The driver also explained that the emotional loss for his family likely caused his fuse to be shorter than usual after Saturday’s race, but that he has no excuse for his actions.
