Sam Mayer survived and advanced on Saturday evening at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL as he topped Parker Kligerman, and held off AJ Allmendinger in an overtime finish to the Drive for the Cure 250. With the win, Mayer, who entered the night as the final driver in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoff Standings, locked his place into the Round of 8.

Following the win, Mayer’s race-winning No. 1 JR Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro underwent post-race inspection, where the car was given a passing grade. As a result, NASCAR declared Mayer and his team as the official winners of the race.

This is the third win of the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season for Mayer, and it is the seventh win of the 21-year-old’s NASCAR Xfinity Series career.

AJ Allmendinger officially came home in the runner-up position, while Shane van Gisbergen, Austin Hill, and Chandler Smith rounded out the top-five finishers in the race.

Aside from a loose lug nut for the No. 7, 8, 21, and 81 cars (monetary fines for crew chiefs), there were no issues in post-race inspection, which means all results and standings following Saturday’s race are now considered official.

The eight drivers, who have officially moved onto the Round of 8 of the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs are Mayer, Allmendinger, Austin Hill, Chandler Smith, Justin Allgaier, Sammy Smith, Cole Custer, and Jesse Love.

The four drivers eliminated from contention were Shane van Gisbergen, Parker Kligerman, Riley Herbst, and Sheldon Creed.
