Here is an awesome bit of news for the Homestead NASCAR Championship weekend: Landon Cassill may run the full distance in this weekend’s Ford EcoBoost 300 Xfinity Series event driving Morgan Shepherd’s No. 89 Chevrolet Camaro.

Shepherd’s wife Cindy posted the news on her personal Facebook account on Thursday.

According to her post, the team has found sponsorship backing, which will allow Cassill to run the full distance, but it all hinges on how the No. 89 car performs in qualifying.

However, qualifying shouldn’t be an issue.

Cassill has worked Shepherd’s car into the show in all nine attempts that he’s had in 2019. Not only that, but Cassill’s best start was an incredible ninth-place qualifying effort at Las Vegas in September.

Overall, Cassill’s average start for the team in 2019 is an astonishing 17.6. If he can nab one more solid qualifying run this weekend at Homestead, we will finally see how well Cassill can perform in a full-race for the little team.
