An iconic Dale Sr. paint scheme from the early 2000s will make its return thanks to JR Motorsports and driver Justin Allgaier.

Good Humor Ice Cream, who has been a partner of owner Dale Jr since last season, will join JR Motorsports for Throwback Weekend at Darlington in May.

The car itself is paying homage to the late Dale Sr., and his red No. 3 Goodwrench Monte Carlo featuring the Looney Tunes character Taz from 2000.

The design itself replaces Taz with the Good Humor Ice Cream man. Overall, the throwback itself, right down to the fonts and colors used, is a stellar recreation. JR Motorsports is an organization known for taking its throwback rollout seriously, and this paint scheme is no exception.

The design was created by Ryan Williams, a Graphic Designer at JR Motorsports. He went to great lengths to ensure that the details were as accurate to the original as possible.

“The sponsor loved the car and requested it themselves,” Williams told TobyChristie.com. “I measured up Dale’s door panel he has on the podcast set to get the stripes right. We found the old ice cream guy that Good Humor would use back in the day and I popped him into a cone to replace the Tax tornado drawings. NASCAR also let us run the special 2021 contig so that’s cool.”

Fans can see the No. 7 Good Humor Camaro hit the track on Saturday, May 8th at 1:00 PM EST on FOX Sports 1 and the FOX Sports app.
