Continuing a trend since the 2022 season, Hendrick Motorsports will field the No. 17 NASCAR Xfinity Series entry in a part-time capacity during the 2025 season. On Wednesday, the winningest organization in the history of the NASCAR Cup Series announced a 16-race schedule for its NASCAR Xfinity Series program. Five drivers, including the team’s four NASCAR Cup Series drivers and the team’s 19-year-old development driver Corey Day, will share the seat of the car this season.
Adam Wall, who served as a crew chief for JR Motorsports in the series last year, will take over crew chief duties for the No. 17 entry this year.
As has been the case since the entry appeared in 2022, HendrickCars.com will serve as the primary sponsorship partner for the effort. The company states that the partnership with the No. 17 NASCAR Xfinity Series team has come with great return on investment.
“We’re pleased to continue our sponsorship of the No. 17 team, which has driven significant traffic to HendrickCars.com and helped support the broader goals of Hendrick Automotive Group,” said Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports and chairman and CEO of Hendrick Automotive Group. “With Adam, we have one of the sharpest young crew chiefs in the garage area leading our team. The Xfinity Series competition is tough, and we’re looking forward to the challenge.”
For Wall, the 35-year-old crew chief, he sees this as a massive opportunity, and he feels it’s one that he is primed to excel in.
“Hendrick Motorsports has opened a lot of doors for me,” Wall said. “Because of the valuable experience I’ve gained, I feel very prepared for this opportunity. I’m excited about the chance to go racing with our Cup drivers and work with a young talent like Corey. Anyone who follows dirt knows he’s the real deal. We have high expectations as a team and look forward to a great year.”
William Byron will climb behind the wheel of the No. 17 car for the team’s 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series debut at Circuit of the Americas on March 1. Alex Bowman will take over for the event at Phoenix Raceway on March 8 before giving way to Kyle Larson, who will run the race at Homestead-Miami Speedway on March 22.
Day, the 19-year-old phenom who will also compete in select NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and ARCA Menards Series events with Spire Motorsports this year, will get his first of 10 starts at Martinsville Speedway on March 29.
Chase Elliott will pilot the car at Darlington Raceway on April 5, and Kyle Larson will close out his schedule with the team at Bristol Motor Speedway on April 12.
Day will slide back behind the wheel at Texas Motor Speedway on May 3, and Byron will make his final start for the No. 17 team at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 24.
Day will then finish out the No. 17 Hendrick Motorsports team’s season at Nashville Superspeedway (May 31), Sonoma Raceway (July 12), Iowa Speedway (August 2), Bristol Motor Speedway (September 12), Charlotte ROVAL (October 4), Las Vegas Motor Speedway (October 11), Martinsville Speedway (October 25), and Phoenix Raceway (November 1).
Overall, the No. 17 Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR Xfinity Series program has collected two wins, which both came last season, four pole positions, as well as 11 top-five finishes, and 13 top-10s. The team has made a total of 20 starts since 2022.
