Brandon Jones started from the pole in Saturday’s Production Alliance Group 300 at Auto Club Speedway, but in the closing laps of the Stage it looked like Chase Briscoe, who won last weekend’s race at Las Vegas, could take the Stage win.

However, Jones kept his cool, and the lapped car of Myatt Snider blocked the path of Briscoe with three laps left in the Stage.

This secured things for Jones, who led all 35 laps in Stage 1. For his efforts, Jones receives a Playoff point as well as 10 Xfinity Series regular season championship points.

Briscoe held on to finish the Stage in second, while the Xfinity Series rookie of the year point leader Harrison Burton was third.

Ross Chastain and Daniel Hemric ended Stage 1 in fourth and fifth.

Riley Herbst, Ryan Sieg, Austin Cindric, Noah Gragson and Michael Annett rounded out the top-10 finishers and also scored Stage points in Stage 1.
