Heading into a race weekend at his hometown track, Atlanta-native Brandon Jones has announced a return to Joe Gibbs Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Jones will rejoin the organization that he piloted a Toyota for from 2018 to 2022 on a multi-year agreement beginning with the 2025 season.

In five seasons with Joe Gibbs Racing, Jones lit it up as he notched all five of his career NASCAR Xfinity Series wins. The history of success in a JGR Toyota has the race team excited for his return.

We’re thrilled to have Brandon return to Joe Gibbs Racing next season,” said Joe Gibbs, owner of Joe Gibbs Racing. He has a proven history of success with us and is someone that we know will be in the championship hunt each year. His veteran leadership will also be a tremendous asset to our program.”

Prior to a frustrating two-year stint at JR Motorsports, Jones had shown excellent growth year-over-year for Joe Gibbs Racing, and the team is sure the driver will return to his winning ways in 2025.

It is great to have Brandon back in our Xfinity Series program,” said Steve de Souza, Executive Vice President of Xfinity Series and Development for JGR. He showed great progress across each season he was with us previously showing the ability to run up front and lead laps consistently each week. We look forward to getting him back to that level of consistency and winning races for us next year.”

Jones who was in a position to advance to the Championship 4 in 2022, before being crashed by his teammate Ty Gibbs late in the fall race at Martinsville Speedway, will look to finish some unfinished business with the organization next season.

“I’m beyond excited to be returning to Joe Gibbs Racing and rejoining the Toyota Racing family,” said Jones. “My time with JGR was some of the most rewarding of my career, and I’m eager to build on that success as we chase more wins and a championship together. I’m ready to hit the ground running and make the most of this incredible opportunity.”

While Jones has an exciting move set for 2025, the 27-year-old remains focused on the current task at hand, which is winning one of the next three NASCAR Xfinity Series races so he can lock into the Playoffs with his current No. 9 JR Motorsports race team.

“For now, my focus remains on finishing this year strong for my team, crew, manufacturer and Menards,” Jones explained. “We will push hard to win our way into the Playoffs and finish the year on a high note.”

Last season, Jones saw his five-year streak of making it into the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs snapped as he struggled to a 14th-place ranking in the final championship standings in his first of two seasons with JR Motorsports. With three races remaining in the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series regular season, Jones sits 14th in the championship standings and has only notched one top-five finish and five top-10s through the opening 23 races of the year.
