Austin Hill and Richard Childress Racing have announced that they have reached a multi-year contract extension that will keep Hill behind the wheel of the No. 21 RCR Racing Chevrolet Camaro in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2024.

The announcement was formally made on Thursday night’s NASCAR RaceHub on FS1, and following the announcement on RaceHub, RCR Tweeted out a hype video on Twitter.

The rumor mill had been churning, and Hill had been a name linked to some openings for a full-time spot in the NASCAR Cup Series. Hill says at the end of the day, he feels at home with Richard Childress Racing.

“I’ve found a home at Richard Childress Racing and it’s an honor to be able to continue my career racing for one of the most successful organizations in the garage,” said Hill. “In looking at the next step of my career, I was presented with several opportunities, but it all came down to being surrounded by racers who want to win, believe in me, and will do their best to give me every opportunity to be successful. I want to thank Richard Childress and everyone at RCR and ECR Engines. I’m excited to race for wins and championships within the NASCAR Xfinity Series for years to come.”

Hill, a native of Winston, Georgia, has blossomed into a bonafide championship contender in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. After scoring two victories in his rookie campaign last season, Hill has racked up four victories in 2023, and he is the NASCAR Xfinity Series regular-season championship leader.

The tenacity that Hill has shown on the track has been inspiring for the RCR team as a whole, and they are excited to contend for championships for years to come with the 29-year-old.

“Austin Hill has set a benchmark for competitiveness within the garage and has proven to be a talented racer who wants to win,” said Richard Childress, chairman and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. “We’re pleased that Austin has found success at RCR and are looking forward to competing for a championship in 2023, 2024, and beyond.”

Overall, Hill has recorded 13 top-five finishes and 17 top-10s in 22 starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this season. Prior to moving to the NASCAR Xfinity Series full-time in 2022, Hill had accumulated eight victories in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series competition.
