Austin Hill has officially made a decision on where he will drive in 2022. The eight-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race winner, will move to the NASCAR Xfinity Series full-time in 2022, driving for Richard Childress Racing.

Hill will be the teammate to Sheldon Creed, who will drive the No. 2 RCR entry in 2022.

For Hill, it’s an honor to drive for the legendary Richard Childress.

“To say it’s an honor to drive for Richard Childress Racing is an understatement,” said Hill. “I’ve been working hard for an opportunity like this since I was a young kid. I really admire RCR’s NASCAR Xfinity Series program, and I am looking forward to having the chance to add my name to the impressive list of drivers who have won under the RCR banner.”

Childress selected Hill for the second car, because he truly feels Hill can bring home hardware for the organization.

“Austin Hill has established himself as a very competitive racer within the NASCAR Truck Series and we know that he is ready for a fulltime opportunity in the NASCAR Xfinity Series,” said Richard Childress, Chairman and CEO of RCR. “Austin is a talented young driver and I feel confident that he will help contribute to wins at RCR.”

The press release from RCR did not note what car number or sponsors Austin Hill will utilize in 2022, but the team has used the No. 21 in the past.

More details on Hill’s RCR ride are to be announced at a later date.

The 27-year old driver has made a total of 15 starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, scoring a top-five finish and four top-10s. In his NXS tenure, so far, Hill had been driving for Hattori in partnerships with MBM Motorsports.

Hill had spent the past three seasons driving the No. 16 truck for Hattori Racing Enterprises, but announced four weeks ago that he would not return to the team next season.
