Sam Hunt Racing (SHR) has tapped Alon Day, a four-time EuroNASCAR champion, to compete in the August 30 NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Portland International Speedway, the team confirmed on Wednesday evening.

The 33-year-old native of Ashdod, Israel, will get behind the wheel of the No. 24 JSSI Toyota GR Supra in the event, marking his first (and currently only scheduled) start in the Xfinity Series for 2025.

Day has been an infrequent competitor across NASCAR’s top-three divisions since making his debut in 2016, having made starts in the NASCAR Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series. Earlier this season, Day joined forces with Venturini Motorsports for a three-race ARCA Menards Series stint in the No. 25 Toyota Camry.

The August 30 event will mark the first stock car start for Day at Portland International Speedway, but his fourth start (and fifth attempt) at competing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Last season, the Israeli-born driver contested a pair of events with Alpha Prime Racing at Chicago and Watkins Glen, with a best finish of 36th at Watkins Glen.

In 2016, while driving for MBM Motorsports in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Day collected a career-best 13th-place finish in a rain-filled event at Mid-Ohio Sports Course, which to this day, remains his best finish in NASCAR National Series competition.

Day has also made starts in the NASCAR Cup Series, running one-off events for BK Racing at Sonoma Raceway (2017) and Richmond Raceway (2018), and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2016 for Contreras Motorsports.

The No. 24 Toyota GR Supra has contested the majority of the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series campaign, with several different drivers, including Ryan Truex, Corey Heim, Dr. Patrick Staropoli, Jeffrey Earnhardt, Christopher Bell, and Kaz Grala.

The Pacific Office Automation 147 at Portland International Raceway will take place on Saturday, August 30, at 7:30 pm ET. Coverage of the event will be on The CW, Motor Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
