NASCAR Xfinity Series competitor Carson Ware was arrested Wednesday Afternoon (October 20th) on charges of Assault on a Female, Assault on a Female, Simple Assault, and Injury to Personal Property, according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department.

Ware was scheduled to compete in Saturday’s Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway, but according to a statement from Rick Ware Racing, the 21-year-old has been indefinitely suspended by SS Green Light Racing. Garrett Smithley will drive the No. 17 Chevrolet Camaro in Saturday’s event at Kansas.

NASCAR has confirmed to TobyChristie.com’s Joseph Srigley that Carson Ware has been indefinitely suspended.

Rick Ware Racing released the following statement on Wednesday Evening, a team representative confirmed to TobyChristie.com that this statement came directly from team owner and Ware’s father Rick Ware:

“This morning I was notified of a situation that involved Carson Ware. At this time, Carson has been indefinitely suspended by SS Green Light Racing and NASCAR. While I am frustrated by the actions of Carson, I am even more disappointed for Bobby Dotter and his entire team. Bobby has been a great ally through the years and I hate to see SS Green Light Racing under scrutiny due to actions that do not reflect the reputation and image that Bobby has worked hard to uphold over the years. My hope is that Carson will get the help that he needs during this difficult time.”

The team shared the statement to their Twitter account on Wednesday evening:

Ware, a North Carolina-native, has competed in nine NASCAR Xfinity Series races since the start of the 2020 season. His career-best finish in NXS competition was a 20th-place effort at Pocono earlier this season driving the No. 07 SS Greenlight Racing machine.

A couple of months ago, in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Darlington, Ware — who was fighting an ill-handling race car — caused race leader Denny Hamlin to spin at the end of the opening Stage of the race.

Ware also made one start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2019. That start resulted in a 30th-place finish.

This is a developing story, more information will be added as it is received.
