Video: Hailie Deegan Tire Catches Fire Early in Atlanta Race

Hailie Deegan’s wheel caught on fire in Stage 1 of Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Atlanta.

Hailie Deegan had high hopes for a good finish in Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series FR8 208 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, but things took a turn for the worse in Stage 1, as her truck cut a tire after an incident in a drafting group.

After Deegan’s cut tire was changed, she went back on track, but reported smoke in the cockpit of her No. 1 truck. After a few laps, Deegan returned to pit road, and it was very obvious why she had smoke in the cockpit, as one of her wheels had caught fire.

After a scary moment, where her crew extracted the flaming tire, the fire was extinguished. However, it wasn’t before Deegan inhaled the smoke from the fire.

As a result, Deegan went to the infield care center, where she was checked and released.
