With powerhouse organizations such as GMS Racing downsizing, and Cup Series teams starting to lose some of their focus on the lower levels of the NASCAR National Series, teams like Young’s Motorsports are taking the opportunity to expand.

The NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series team announced on Friday that they will be expanding to three full-time trucks in 2019.

With that announcement, YM announced the addition of New York-native Tyler Dippel to round out their roster of drivers for the upcoming season. Dippel joins Spencer Boyd and Gus Dean.

“I am really excited to join Young’s Motorsports,” Dippel said. “It is an organization that keeps growing and building on its foundation. Young’s Motorsports brings fast Chevrolet Silverados’ to the track each week, and I’m beyond excited to climb behind the wheel for the team.”

According to a release from the team, Chad Kendrick will serve as crew chief for Dippel, 18, in the No. 02 truck.

Dippel is a NASCAR Next alumni, and ran five Truck Series races for DGR-Crosley Racing in 2018. Dippel’s best finish to date was a 13th-place finish in his debut start at Eldora.

Dippel has also won two times in the NASCAR K&N Pro East Series. In 2016, Dippel finished third in KNPES points, and this past season he was runner-up despite running only 13 of the 14 events.
