Wesley Slimp, a competitor from the Porsche Carrera Cup North America, will get his first taste of NASCAR National Series racing this weekend as Slimp will serve as the pilot of the No. 62 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro for Halmar Friesen Racing in this weekend’s inaugural NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Lime Rock Park.

Slimp will carry primary sponsorship in the event from HNTB Corporation, which is an employee-owned infrastructure solutions firm.

The acquisition of Slimp for this event could prove to be a big move for the Halmar Friesen team as the native of Marietta, GA is well-versed at racing on road courses. Prior to his move to the Porsche Carrera Cup this season, Slimp collected three victories in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series in just 36 career starts.

Slimp has also compete in events in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Series, Mustang Challenge Series, and Trans Am.

Now, Slimp will have a chance to showcase how well his sports car road course racing skills translate to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in Friday’s The LiUNA! 150 at Lime Rock Park.

The Halmar Friesen Racing team has competed in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series ranks since the 2016 season, and in 210 starts, the organization has collected four victories, the most recent coming at Michigan International Speedway with Stewart Friesen a couple of weeks ago.

Slimp will look to lay down an impressive result in his series debut for the team.
