Video: Conner Jones Eliminates Matt Mills from Homestead Truck Race

Conner Jones has gained a reputation of being overly aggressive in his part-time stint with ThorSport Racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Jones stepped over the line once again on Saturday at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Lap 76 of Saturday’s Baptist Health 200.

While battling for a position just outside the top-15, Jones apparently was upset by a block that Matt Mills, the driver of the No. 42 Niece Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado, put on him heading into Turns 3 and 4. Jones opted to show his displeasure by hitting Mills in the rear and sending him hard into the outside wall.

Mills pounded the outside wall, and a fire broke out under the hood of the No. 42 Chevrolet Silverado. As the truck came to a stop on the apron in Turn 4, Mills was helped from the truck by the AMS Safety Crew, and Mills took a moment to gather his composure before taking the trip to the infield care center.

While Mills would climb from the truck, he would later be taken to a local area hospital for further evaluation after the wicked impact into the outside wall.

After making the move on track, Conner Jones radioed a weird, shouting rant over his radio, which indicated he made the move on purpose. As a result, NASCAR instructed Jones to take his No. 66 ThorSport Racing Ford F-150 down pit road, where he would be assessed a two-lap rough driving penalty.
