Video: Bret Holmes, Bayley Currey Spin From Race-Lead in Final Stage at Daytona

At Daytona International Speedway, it doesn’t matter where in the pack you’re stationed, there is always a legitimate possibility of getting caught up in a multi-truck accident, even if it’s not of your own doing.

That’s a reality that Bret Holmes and Bayley Currey know all too well, after getting caught up in a small accident in the final stage of Friday’s Fresh from Florida 250 for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

The accident started as Johnny Sauter, the 2016 champion of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, was racing side-by-side with Bret Holmes for the lead, with the No. 45 Chevrolet making an aggressive side-draft at the corner exit.

Holmes then got way loose at the exit of the corner, sending him spinning down on the flat coming to the tri-oval. In a similar fashion, Currey, trying to avoid the No. 32 Chevrolet, also spun around. The Niece Motorsports driver only made slight contact with the inside wall.

Both Holmes and Currey were able to return to the racetrack with minimal damage, meaning their chances at winning the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season-opener at Daytona are not yet over.
