Jason Burdett, who had served as the crew chief for Jimmie Johnson and the part-time No. 84 LEGACY MOTOR CLUB Toyota Camry XSE in the NASCAR Cup Series until the race team confirmed Burdett’s departure from the team last month, has found himself a new home. Burdett has officially joined TRICON Garage in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

TRICON Garage made the announcement of the Burdett acquisition via social media on Saturday.

While the social media graphic didn’t disclose which TRICON Garage Toyota Tundra Burdett will serve as the crew chief, an updated entry list for Sunday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at the Milwaukee Mile shows Burdett as the new crew chief pairing for Tanner Gray and the No. 15 team.

Burdett will take over for Jerame Donley, who narrowly failed to help the older Gray brother into the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Playoff field. In 39 races together, Gray and Donley recorded a total of three top-fives and 10 top-10 finishes.

The 46-year-old Burdett brings a wealth of experience and a winning pedigree to TRICON Garage and its No. 15 team. While Burdett didn’t find much success with Johnson and LMC in six NASCAR Cup Series races this season, the longtime crew chief amassed 18 wins with JR Motorsports in a nine-year span in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

In his nine seasons as a crew chief for JR Motorsports, Burdett made the Playoffs eight times, and his team made it into the Championship 4 six times.

Burdett will look to help Tanner Gray build confidence and momentum over the final races of the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season.
