Jayson Alexander, a part-timer in the ARCA Menards Series, is set to make his NASCAR National Series debut in Sunday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at The Milwaukee Mile, the driver announced via social media on Thursday.
The 21-year-old driver will partner with Floridian Motorsports to drive the No. 21 Ford F-150 in the LiUNA! 175 at the one-mile racetrack located in West Allis, Wisconsin.
“I am super excited to share with you all that I will be making my NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut this weekend at the Milwaukee Mile,” Alexander said in a social media post. “Can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the No. 21 for Floridian Motorsports. Thank you to everyone who made this opportunity possible.”
Alexander has competed in five events across the ARCA Menards Series platform this season, all partnered with Andy Hillenburg and Fast Track Racing.
The Apex, North Carolina native contested East Series events at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway and Flat Rock Raceway, recording a pair of eighth-place finishes.
In ARCA’s main division, Alexander returned to Fast Track Racing for events at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Indianapolis Raceway Park, and most recently Michigan International Speedway, where he earned a career-best 13th, despite suffering second-degree burns on his scalp because of a hole in his helmet hose.
Blake Lothian was originally scheduled to get behind the wheel of the Floridian Motorsports entry this weekend at The Milwaukee Mile but confirmed that he wouldn’t compete via social media on Thursday.
“This is the part of racing everyone hates,” Lothian said. “Due to sponsorship complications, we won’t be racing at Milwaukee this weekend. Gutted. We’re working hard to regroup and get back on track soon.”
Floridian Motorsports, formed by Scott Osteen at the beginning of the season, has attempted to qualify for seven NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events this season, primarily with Mason Maggio driving.
In six starts, the team has a best finish of 24th at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Alexander will make his first laps around the one-mile Milwaukee Mile on Saturday in NASCAR Truck Series practice. The LiUNA! 175 will take place on Sunday, August 25.
