Spire Motorsports has officially announced the driver lineup of its two all-star trucks for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway. Two of the organization’s NASCAR Cup Series racers, Michael McDowell and Justin Haley, will join full-time Spire Motorsports Truck Series drivers Rajah Caruth and Andres Perez de Lara as the Spire Motorsports Truck drivers at Daytona.
McDowell, driver of the team’s No. 71 NASCAR Cup Series Chevrolet, will pilot the No. 07 Chevrolet Silverado RST. Haley, the driver of the team’s No. 7 NASCAR Cup Series Chevrolet, will pilot the No. 7 Chevrolet Silverado RST.
While Haley hasn’t competed in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in five years, and McDowell hasn’t made a Truck start in 16 years, the team couldn’t have two more qualified drivers to be behind the wheel for the Truck Series race at Daytona.
McDowell, 40, was the winner of the 2021 Daytona 500, and seven of his 11 career NASCAR Cup Series top-five finishes have come in Superspeedway drafting-style races. Likewise, Haley picked up his lone NASCAR Cup Series win at Daytona International Speedway in 2019, and he has recorded four wins on Superspeedway tracks in the NASCAR Xfinity Series ranks.
Earlier this week, Spire Motorsports dropped its 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series crew chief lineup. McDowell will have Allen Hart atop the pit box at Daytona, while Haley will have Brian Pattie calling the shots for the No. 7 team. Caruth will be paired with Bono Manion, and Perez de Lara will have Chad Walter guiding him through his rookie campaign.
Spire Motorsports, founded in 2019, is a team that has one NASCAR Cup Series race win, which came with Haley behind the wheel in a rain-shortened event at Daytona International Speedway in 2019. In 2022, the team expanded its footprint to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series ranks, and to date, the team has reached victory lane five times in the series.
In 2024, the team won three times in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, twice with two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch, and once with Caruth, who picked up his first career win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
