Ryan Reed – a two-time winner in the NASCAR Xfinity Series — will make his return to competition in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in Saturday’s Toyota Care 250 at Richmond Raceway, piloting the No. 49 Chevrolet Silverado for CMI Motorsports.

Saturday’s event will mark the first race of any kind for Reed in NASCAR’s top-three series since March 2019, when he finished eighth-place for DGR-Crosley Racing – now David Gilliland Racing — at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

“It’s so cool to be able to come back and race Richmond,” Reed said. “It’s where I made my Xfinity Series debut for Roush so what a great place to make my return. Very appreciative of the opportunity from Ray [Ciccarelli].”

CMI Motorsports owner Ray Ciccarelli was originally scheduled to pilot the team’s No. 49 Chevrolet Silverado at Richmond, but ultimately decided to let the Bakersfield, California-native get behind the wheel, in hopes of scoring the team some much-needed points.

“I’m extremely excited to have such a talented young man like him in our truck, it was hard for me to step out but having him take my spot made it easier.”

Although Richmond will serve as the third NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start for Reed, the 27-year-old has a wealth of experience in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, including 12 trips to the 0.75-mile facility, the first of which was his Xfinity Series debut.

Saturday’s event is of the upmost importance for CMI Motorsports and the No. 49 team, who currently sit 42nd in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Owner Points, five points behind Norm Benning’s No. 6, which based on current entry list projections, will be the cut-off to make the field over the next couple of events.
