Talk about a statement. Nick Sanchez, who is entering his rookie campaign in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series competition, rocketed to the pole for Friday night’s season-opener at Daytona International Speedway.

Sanchez, who drives the No. 2 Chevrolet Silverado for Rev Racing, turned a 49.478 sec. lap, which equates to an average speed of 181.899 mph.

The lap from Sanchez crushed the competition, as the next closest competitor was ThorSport Racing’s Ty Majeski, who turned a lap more than three-tenths of a second slower than Sanchez.

At a Superspeedway, that is an incredible margin to win a pole position by.

According to TobyChristie.com’s Joesph Srigley, Sanchez is just the sixth driver in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series history to score a pole in their debut start, and he’s the first to do so since the 2015 season.

Rev Racing, like Sanchez, enters its first season in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series competition and it does so with a technical alliance with Kyle Busch Motorsports. It appears, after one qualifying session, that the partnership is working out well for Rev Racing.

Behind the front row of Sanchez and Majeski will by Jack Wood, Christian Eckes and NASCAR Cup Series racer Corey LaJoie rounded out the top-five starters.

Matt Crafton will join LaJoie in row three, while Jason White (USA), Matt DiBenedetto, Carson Hocevar and Chase Purdy will cap out the top-10 on the starting grid.

Purdy, a Kyle Busch Motorsports racer, was second-fastest in the opening-round of qualifying. However, a flat tire between Round 1 and Round 2, caused him to not turn a lap in Round 2. As a result, Purdy was credited with 10th.
