Spire Motorsports has tapped J.J. Yeley, a journeyman driver with more than 800 starts across NASCAR’s top-three divisions, to compete in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Talladega Superspeedway on October 17.
Yeley, a native of Phoenix, Arizona, will be piloting the No. 7 Delaware Life Chevrolet Silverado RST at Talladega, the third and final superspeedway event of the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series campaign.

“Excited to get another shot,” Yeley said Monday in a social media post. “It’s been a few years since having the resources, equipment, and organization to get to Victory Lane.”
The 49-year-old has spent the last two decades competing for various organizations in NASCAR, most notably for Joe Gibbs Racing, where Yeley spent several seasons and had the opportunity to drive the No. 18 Interstate Batteries entry in the NASCAR Cup Series — in which he scored one top-five and six top-10s.
Over the last two seasons, Yeley has been reunited with NY Racing to run a part-time NASCAR Cup Series schedule in the No. 44 Chevrolet. Since returning to the organization, the decorated dirt racer has made 16 starts with a best finish of 23rd at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the Spring of 2024.
When it comes to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, though, Yeley hasn’t attempted to make a start in four years and hasn’t successfully done so since 2020, when he partnered with Reaume Brothers Racing to drive the No. 00 Toyota Tundra at Dover Motor Speedway.
In his 36 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts, Yeley has managed to collect a pair of top-10 finishes, both at Daytona International Speedway, in 2010 (driving for Daisy Ramirez), and again in 2017 (driving for AM Racing).
Yeley is the newest addition to a long line of drivers who have joined the stables of Spire Motorsports for a one-off during the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series campaign, a list that includes Patrick Emerling, BJ McLeod, Thomas Annunziata, Connor Zilisch, Jordan Taylor, Nick Sanchez, and Brenden Queen.
The Spire Motorsports No. 7 Chevrolet, which long-time NASCAR crew chief Brian Pattie leads, has been to Victory Lane twice this season — once at Atlanta Motor Speedway with Kyle Busch, and again at Kansas Speedway with Carson Hocevar, a NASCAR Cup Series driver for Spire Motorsports.
That entry originally qualified for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Owner’s Playoffs, but was eliminated following the third post-season event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
The Love’s RV Stop 225 at Talladega Superspeedway will take place on Friday, October 17, at 4:00 PM ET. Coverage of the event will be on FOX Sports 1, the NASCAR Radio Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
