UPDATE: According to FoxSports’ Bob Pockrass, Greg Biffle will run the June Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway in the Kyle Busch Motorsports No. 51 Truck.

It has been a while since we have seen Greg Biffle in a NASCAR race vehicle (since 2016 to be exact), but according to the 55-time NASCAR National Series winner he will be back behind the wheel of a NASCAR Gander Outdoors Series Truck on Thursday at Texas Motor Speedway.

Now, he will be practicing a truck, not racing, as Kyle Busch is slated to be behind the wheel of the No. 51 truck for the Vankor 350 on Friday night. However, this is an interesting move nonetheless, because obviously it puts Biffle back behind the wheel of a NASCAR which is awesome, but further more it may lead to an opportunity for the 49-year-old racer.

Busch, who will be making his fourth start of the Truck Series season will only be allowed to compete in one more Truck Series event after Texas. So, this begs the question: Who will fill the slate of races in the No. 51 truck?

Christian Eckes ran the season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway. The young driver scored a pole, but was caught up in a crash and finished the day in 22nd. Meanwhile, Kyle Busch has gone on to win the three races since Daytona.

Busch has also voiced his frustration with some of his young stable of talent for not consistently battling for wins in top equipment. Todd Gilliland has taken the brunt of Busch’s criticism recently.

Could Biffle, a battle tested veteran and 2000 Series Champion, slip behind the wheel for a significant chunk of those races? Only time will tell, but it will be fun watching Biffle practice the No. 51 on Thursday.
