Devon Rouse, NASCAR’s only openly gay NASCAR driver, will make his long-awaited debut start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in the Corn Belt 150 at Knoxville Raceway driving for Reaume Brothers Racing in their No. 33 entry. Rouse, who hails from Iowa, was slated to drive for the team in 2020 at Eldora, before COVID wiped that race off the schedule.

“We were going to have Devon run Eldora for us last year, but with Covid and Eldora being taken off the schedule, we had to go back to the drawing board,” team owner Josh Reaume said in a team release. “Knoxville is a perfect place for Devon to be able to debut, and it makes it even more special that it is a home track for him. I pride myself in believing that I have the most diverse team in any of NASCARs top series, and Devon not only adds to that, but also becomes a part of our family here at Reaume Brothers Racing.”

Needless to say, Rouse is very excited for his chance behind the wheel in the NASCAR National Series ranks.

“I’m looking very forward to running with RBR in making my Camping World Truck Series debut. I tested with them back in the beginning of 2020 and the second I stepped into the pits I felt welcome, even before coming out,” Rouse explained. “I think RBR works amazingly with the diversification that we are now seeing in Motorsports. See everyone in Knoxville!”

Sponsorship for the effort will come from Camping World, which is owned by Marcus Lemonis.

According to a team release from RBR, Rouse began racing at the age of three in dirt go-karts. After winning a championship in the dirt go-karts at age six, Rouse tried his hand at Mod-Lites for six years before heading to the sprint car world, where he has raced ever since.
