Corey Day, a standout on dirt, has quickly been working his way up the racing ladder, and on Monday McAnally-Hilgemann Racing announced that they have added the 18-year-old driver to their NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series stable for a four-race stint this season. Day will split his four races between the team’s No. 91 Chevrolet Silverado and a new No. 81 MHR Chevrolet Silverado.

“I’m excited to make my start in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series,” Day said in a team press release. “I haven’t made many non-dirt racing starts but I’m ready to begin learning more about this type of racing. I know I will face some challenges but I feel confident in my ability to learn and I know that I have great support behind me with HendrickCars.com and McAnally-Hilgemann Racing. I just hope to represent them well.”
Day, a native of Clovis, CA, will get his four-race campaign kicked off this week at Bristol Motor Speedway in the team’s No. 81 Chevrolet Silverado, which he’ll also drive at Martinsville Speedway. Day will be the driver of the team’s No. 91 entry at Kansas Speedway and Homestead-Miami Speedway.
McAnally-Hilgemann Racing is elated to give Day his first taste of NASCAR National Series racing after seeing what the young racer has been able to accomplish behind the wheel of a winged sprint car.
“We can’t wait to see what Corey can do in one of our Chevrolet Silverados”, team owner Bill McAnally said. “It’s clear to see the raw talent and speed that he has in a sprint car, and we’re excited to help him get acclimated to NASCAR racing. Corey has shown to be a quick learner in his career and we’re looking forward to him joining our team in these four races.”
Day recently took home the win in the High Limit Racing Sprint Car Series’ $100,000-to-win Trophy Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California. Day has racked up seven wins in 46 starts in the High Limit Racing Series ranks in 2024, and he sits inside the top five of the championship standings.
Day made his ARCA Menards Series debut at Salem Speedway earlier this year. In that event, he started fifth and impressed early. However, Day would finish 15th in the 28-car field after crashing out of the race.
