Cole Butcher, a standout driver in the Super Late Model ranks, is set to make his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut later this season at Bristol Motor Speedway.

The Porter’s Lake, Nova Scotia-native will join forces with Halmar Friesen Racing for his NASCAR National Series debut, piloting the No. 62 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro in the UNOH 200 Presented by Ohio Logistics.

Atlantic Tiltload and TOP Construction Ltd. will back Butcher in his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut. Both companies have served as a long-time partner of the 29-year-old driver’s Super Late Model racing efforts.

“I’m excited to make my Truck Series debut at Bristol Motor Speedway with Halmar Friesen Racing,” Butcher said. “It’s a big opportunity, and I’m looking forward to the challenge. Bristol is such an iconic track, and I’m hoping we can put together a solid run and bring home a top-10 finish. I’m thankful to everyone at Halmar Friesen Racing for a chance to be part of this race.”

Butcher is a two-time winner in the prestigious Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway and currently leads the Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA STARS National Tour point standings with four victories on the season, and eight in his career.

The Super Late Model standout is going to be the second driver to get behind the wheel of the second entry, No. 62, for Halmar Friesen Racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this season.

Wesley Slimp piloted the No. 62 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro in a pair of road course events in the NASCAR Truck Series this season — at Lime Rock Park and Watkins Glen International — where the Georgia-native recorded a best finish of 13th.

In the second of two annual trips to the 0.533-mile Bristol Motor Speedway, Butcher will be serving as a teammate to another short track success story, defending Snowball Derby race-winner Kaden Honeycutt, who has risen through the ranks of Late Model racing to get an opportunity in NASCAR.

Honeycutt, a native of Willow Park, Texas, will be behind the wheel of the team’s flagship No. 52 Halmar International Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, as he serves as the replacement driver for Stewart Friesen, who was injured in a big block modified accident in Canada last month.

The UNOH 200 presented by Ohio Logistics is set to take place on Thursday, September 11, at Bristol Motor Speedway. Coverage of the event will be on FS1, NASCAR Radio Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio at 8:00 PM ET.
