After making laps in Friday’s practice session from Sonoma Raceway, NASCAR has approved Carson Hocevar to compete in Saturday’s Door Dash 250.

Hocevar, who confirmed on Friday that he’d broken his right tibia in a last-lap accident at WWT Raceway, worked with the sanctioning body in order to be allowed to practice his No. 42 Worldwide Express Chevrolet Silverado.

The Portage, Michigan-native made a total of 10 laps in Friday’s practice session, all of which came on older tires. Daniel Suarez, the 19-year-old’s designated relief driver, should he need one, posted the seventh-quickest overall lap in the session.
