FDNY Racing’s No. 28 has been able to take advantage of the changes NASCAR has made to its race weekend policies, allowing the mostly volunteer run team to enter more events already this season, then the team has in six years. The team will continue to capitalize on these opportunities next weekend, when the series heads to Pocono Raceway for the sixth race of the 2020 season. Bryan Dauzat will once again return to the drivers seat of the No. 28, as he makes his eleventh start in the NASCAR Truck Series.

With the increased field size and a overhaul in how the 40-truck field is determined, Dauzat’s 29th-place result at Daytona allowed the team to earn enough owner points to be ensured a spot in the series’ return to racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Dauzat and the No. 28 finished 34th, accumulating five more points to their season total, allowing them to sit in the same position the following week at Atlanta Motor Speedway, where they returned for their third start in the first four races of 2020.

Although, the race at Atlanta Motor Speedway proved to be a unsuccessful outing for the team, finishing 39th after Dauzat spun the No. 28 truck multiple times in the first 15 laps of the race. Dauzat and team were criticized for their lack of speed in the No. 28, but frustration increased when it was discovered that Jeb Burton (driving the Niece Motorsports No. 44) sustained damage from contact with the lapped truck of Dauzat.

Despite missing the races at Las Vegas and Homestead, Dauzat and the No. 28 still remain high enough in 2020 owner standings to ensure that the No. 28 Silverado will be one of the 40 trucks that take the green flag next Saturday Afternoon.
