It has been announced that 16-year-old Trans Am Series driver, Ben Maier, will pilot the Young’s Motorsports No. 02 Chevrolet Silverado RST entry for the upcoming NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series The Liuna! 150 at Lime Rock Park on Saturday, June 28.

Executive Chevrolet will sponsor Maier’s No. 02 Chevrolet in his efforts around the 1.530-mile, seven-turn road course.

Maier, although still a teenager, is already experienced in various types of motorsports. Over the past few years, he has competed in the Trans-Am Series, Stadium Super Truck Series, ZMax CARS Tour, and Nitro Rallycross.

Maier claimed his first career Cube Architecture TA2 Series victory in 2024 with Nitro Motorsports at WorldWide Technology Raceway (Gateway), as well as finishing fifth in the overall points standings with two podiums and two pole positions throughout the 12-race season.

The 16-year-old driver has additionally made two starts in the Trans-Am TA2 Series at Lime Rock, with a best finish of fourth in 2024.

Maier is currently competing full-time in the ZMax CARS Tour Pro Late Model Series, leading the points after five events, driving the No. 6M for Setzer Racing with two top 5s and four top 10s thus far.

“I am so excited for this opportunity,” Maier said in a press release. “I’m so thankful for Tyler (Young) and Young’s Motorsports for taking this chance on me. I can’t wait to wheel the No. 02 Executive Chevrolet Silverado truck around Lime Rock Park!”

Maier will now be one of six drivers entering the Lakeville, Connecticut, facility, making their Truck Series debuts as his Nitro Motorsports teammate in the Trans-Am TA2 class, as Thomas Annunziata will pilot the No. 07 Chevrolet for Spire Motorsports.

Three-time IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar champion Jordan Taylor will team up with Annunziata in the No. 7 Chevrolet, while Reaume Brothers Racing will field entries for William Lambros in the No. 2 and Alex Labbé in the No. 22 Ford F-150.

Lastly, Porsche Carrera Cup North America competitor, Wesley Slimp, will get behind the wheel of the No. 62 Toyota Tundra for Halmar Friesen Racing.

“We are proud to have Ben Maier representing Young’s Motorsports at Lime Rock Park,” said Young’s Motorsports team principal Tyler Young. “His talent and determination are evident, and we believe he has a bright future ahead of him.”

Maier will be tested to his limits on Saturday afternoon as he applies his past experience from running Lime Rock in the Trans-Am TA2 Series to the Truck Series.
