It had to happen at some point, Austin Hill had been knocking on the door seemingly all year in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series. Friday, he finally busted the door down as he cruised to his first win of the season at Kansas Speedway in the Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 200.

Hill led a race-high 65 laps in the 134 lap contest, and he held a near-three-second lead over Stage 1 winner Brett Moffitt at the finish line.

The 26-year old has now scored top-10 finishes in eight of the nine NGROTS races this year.

While Hill deserved the win, the fifth of his Truck Series career, but he was very fortunate with three laps to go that a caution was not called when Jordan Anderson and Spencer Davis slammed into the front stretch wall.

However, the caution never was shown and Hill, who hails from Georgia, took the win.

Behind Hill and Moffitt were ThorSport Racing teammates Grant Enfinger and Matt Crafton in third and fourth.

Rookie Derek Kraus finished an impressive fifth in the No. 19 truck.

Kraus’ fellow rookie of the year contender Zane Smith was sixth.

Ben Rhodes, Sheldon Creed, Johnny Sauter and Todd Gilliland rounded out the top-10 finishers in the race.

The truck series will return to action again on Saturday before the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Kansas Speedway. Coverage is scheduled for 1:30 PM ET on FS1.
