Trevor Bayne is Back! Returning For One-Off With Niece Motorsports in Trucks at Darlington

Niece Motorsports is taking throwback weekend seriously, as they have added 2011 Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne to drive their No. 40 Chevrolet Silverado this weekend at Darlington Raceway.

Bayne, 29, who hasn’t run a NASCAR event in nearly two years is excited to get back after it.

“After almost two years of being out of the seat, I’m so excited and grateful for another chance to go racing,” said Bayne in a team release.  “The call from Niece Motorsports to get back behind the wheel at Darlington was unexpected and came together really fast.  They have a great group and a lot of potential with their program.  I’m looking forward to working with everyone there and going back racing this weekend!”

According to the press release, Bayne’s effort will be sponsored by Plan B Sales and Proceller8.

Niece Motorsports’ made the decision on Bayne driving, as the Tennessee-native has always been an upstanding individual in the garage area.

“I’ve known Trevor for years,” said General Manager Cody Efaw.  “He’s extremely talented and a class act.  We are excited to have him behind the wheel at Darlington.”

Bayne, who has one NASCAR Cup Series win and two NASCAR Xfinity Series wins in his career, has never competed in a NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series event.

Bayne will join David Ragan and Greg Biffle as former seemingly retired NASCAR Cup Series drivers battling it out in the Truck Series event at Darlington.
