Slight Tweak to Qualifying Procedure at Pocono For Time Constraints

NASCAR will stick with single-car qualifying for the foreseeable future, however tracks like Pocono Raceway, which is 2.5-miles long and takes nearly a minute to run a lap will have a slight tweak to qualifying sessions. On Saturday, cars will be sent onto the track in groups with 15 second cushions between each car.

The session will still have television timeouts built in so no car that makes it onto the track doesn’t get their run shown in some form or fashion.

This will speed the sessions up, which will allow NASCAR to get the NASCAR Xfinity Series event started on time on Saturday.
